Joey Algiers, the Plant Ecologist and Vegetation Branch Chief for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, will lead the very first talk. With nearly 20 years of experience and a Master’s in Biology, Joey is at the forefront of protecting our local landscape. He leads critical efforts to restore damaged habitats by rebuilding native plant communities and managing invasive species. This is your chance to hear directly from an expert who works hands-on in our mountains, collaborating on everything from nursery propagation and research to long-term monitoring. Come get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep our backyard wild and healthy!
